The Valley Christian Preschool Pilgrims and Native Americans recently sat down for a yummy feast in celebration of Thanksgiving! Leading up to this big day, we read the story of the First Thanksgiving, created art projects including Thankful Turkeys, Pilgrim Hats and Native American Headbands and also sang Thanksgiving-themed songs. We hope you enjoy our photos!
A Peek Into Our Classroom
We strongly believe that when children have the freedom to spontaneous play and interact, they explore, solve problems and develop social skills. Below are photos of both our 3-year-old class and 4-year-old class enjoying free play - each day new discoveries and friendships are made! (Click on any photo to make it larger)
Thanksgiving Songs and Finger Plays!
We are learning lots of new and fun songs for Thanksgiving! Please encourage your child to sing these songs at home, too!
I'm a Very Fine Turkey
(Children pretend they have wings)
I'm a very fine turkey and I sing a fine song,
Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble...
I strut around the barnyard all day long
and my head goes
Bobble, bobble, bobble!
We're Thankful...
We're thankful for the corn,
We're thankful for the corn,
We're thankful for the corn and more,
We're thankful for the corn.
(Next, name a different food and continue singing)
The Turkey Ran Away
The turkey ran away
before Thanksgiving Day
He said, "They'll make a roast out of me...
if I should stay"
The pumpkin ran away
before Thanksgiving Day
He said, "They'll make a pie out of me...
if I should stay"
The cranberries ran away
before Thanksgiving Day
They said, "They'll make a sauce out of me...
if I should stay"
Mr. Turkey and Mr. Duck
(This is a finger play. Hold up each index finger like they are "talking" to each other. One is Mr. Turkey and one is Mr. Duck.)
Mr. Turkey took a walk one day in the very best of weather.
Along came Mr. Duck and they both talked together.
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
Quack, quack, quack.
Good-bye. Good-bye.
And they both walked back.
